Dog Barking Remedies

Excessive dog barking can be caused by various reasons. And it is recommended to start employing dog barking remedies just before this annoying behaviour becomes your dog’s habit later on.  It’s not only you that can be disturbed by this irritating noise, you will eventually find your neighbours knocking at your front door complaining at the excessive barking.

One of the reasons why dogs bark is loneliness. Through barking, he can entertain himself, thus excellent dog barking remedies can be as simple as providing your dog with something more entertaining than the pleasure he gets from barking. You can give him chew toys. Keeping his mouth full can lessen the sounds he creates. You can also try giving him food-dispensing toys. These toys have a space inside for hiding food, so your dog would be busy enough to be quiet for a period of time. However, this only works when your dog is hungry.

Another reason for barking excessively is when dogs see something outside the house. You can rearrange your furniture so that you can block your dog’s view. However, you may not want to do that because barking with this reason can serve to your advantage, because your dog can alert you of probable intruders.

Dogs also bark excessively when he doesn’t have enough exercise. You can give him workouts or play with him or take him for long walks, or train him, or take him to swimming. Through engaging him in physical activities, he would be tired enough to bark. If he lacks exercise, he would more likely bark because barking can serve as a physical activity for the dogs.

You can also purchase dog bark collars. They are available on the market, and had a built-in sensor that emits an unpleasant consequence whenever the dog barks. You can also try buying bark-activated noisemakers. When your dog barks, it will be activated and would produce startling sounds, thus your dog can lose his focus. If you don’t want this, you can also carry out dog barking remedies all by yourself.

You can try sneaking back to area where your dog is, but keep out of his sight and his sensing ability as well. At the very moment that your dog barks, you should make a noise distracter that would divert your dog’s attention from barking to the distracter. Simply repeat the distracter sound every time the dog barks until he settles down.
